Task: 2.4.3 - Understand Performance Measurement As-Is
Identify current performance indicators or process parameters and analyze the way in which they are monitored and managed. Collect and document business requirements regarding the key process indicators if they are to be implemented in the same way in the solution.

Main Description

The objective is to get a clear and unambiguous understanding of the present performance measurement. If performance measurement and improving performance are not part of the scope, this task can be skipped. In addition, understanding the current performance provides a baseline from which to quantify the benefits of the proposed To-Be processes, and measure progress in realizing these benefits during implementation. If a performance measurement has not been performed it is still useful to realize a benchmark performance measurement. There is no sense to determine the performance of current key performance indicators (kpi's), if these kpi's won't be used in the To-Be situation. The client will have indicated in the Focus and Direction phase which of the As-Is kpi's are in scope for the To-Be. Key performance indicators are usually typical for a particular industry or process type. If a reference model is used it may include key performance indicators, These can be used as a guide to recognize the current performance indicators.
